Usually around this time of year, a bit of a peek-a-boo from the sun is a rare and much welcomed sighting. Except this spring, we’ve probably had more days of sunshine than we have had of clouds and rain! The flowers are already out and blooming in all their rose-tinted glory, students are finding it more and more difficult to pull themselves inside and focus for their final few weeks of class, and campus is buzzing with different plans for upcoming events!
This weekend we will have 60 admitted students on campus for our annual Admit Event weekend. As they arrive on campus Saturday, the stage and productions crew will already be well underway transforming the underground parking garage into a snack bar, an art gallery, a dining area, and a stage. After Saturday night’s performances though, the excitement isn’t over! The following weekend will beckon students, graduates, staff and faculty, and even Squamish families, up to campus for the annual Dancing Bear Music Festival!
This year, there will be vendors, face painting, a beer garden, and bands such as The Cherry Potatoes, Jaguar, and The Pack AD. Each year we cross our fingers for the good weather to bless us—this year I don’t think we’ll have a problem with that!
And following this summer celebration, our 2015 graduates will be making last minute preparations upon their Keystone presentations and anticipating the graduation ceremony on April 25th.
There is so much to look forward to, and although I’ve already graduated, I too am finding it difficult to focus indoors. Perhaps I will have to steal myself away for some lake swimming or a nice walk one of these days! If you’re around Squamish, or even Vancouver, come check out some of these public events coming up!
