One of the things that may deter you from going to Quest is the lack of lab opportunities (or so it is perceived).
However, that has not been the case for me!
The courses that I have taken that have included lab components so far have been: Chemistry 1, Organic Chemistry 1, Organic Chemistry 2, What is Life and now Evolution.
For the last 3 weeks in my Evolution class I have been going to the lab each day to grow antibiotic resistant bacteria. This has been great practice in addition to all of my other lab experiences in my other classes.
As for direct lab courses, there are also a few of those to choose from. For example, techniques in cellular and molecular biology 1 & 2 are courses to learn some advanced and basic techniques in the lab. This make include DNA isolation, bioinformatics, microscopy and gene cloning. Another class that is available is experiments in the physical science where students can design their own experiments to compliment their question or just out of general interest.
In addition to all of these resources students may take the opportunity to do their Keystone work in the lab. Quest’s lab facilities may not be the biggest, but there is definitely an opportunity for everyone.
