The SRC stands for the Student Representative Council -they are the representatives for the student body.
There are ministers responsible various topics such as environmental affairs, external affairs, recreation, arts and culture, and more (a link to the full list of the ministers from this past year is below).
This year the current president looked into revising the constitution as its end-date came into sight.
Some changes include more funds for Residence Council, The Mark (student organized newspaper), and the EFRT (Emergency First Response Team) as well as two new minister positions (Minister of Human Rights and Minister of Health and Wellness) and new rules for elections.
Today I attended an informational meeting run by the Constitutional Review Committee and then attended the SRC Candidates (President and Vice President) debates:
Each of the candidates (3 candidates for president and 5 candidates for vice) had time to state their platform and then answer questions.
Today showed me once again the level of commitment so many students have to making Quest even more amazing. I’m so happy I go to a school where I know all of the candidates for the Student Representative Council personally and where people are challenged on their statements and ideas, but not their personhood.
I look forward to voting and finding out who will be the next leaders of our SRC!
