At PacWest Basketball Provincials this weekend, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams took home Bronze medals! After tough losses for each team on Friday afternoon, both teams fought hard on Saturday to place third at the Provincial tournament.

Entering the playoffs, our men’s team was ranked second and our women’s team was ranked fourth in the province. The women won handily by 30 points on Thursday against Langara, lost to the #1 seeded team VIU on Friday, and came back from being down at the start of Saturday’s game to beat the #2 seeded Douglas 60-55. With only a minute left in the women’s game on Saturday, the teams were tied. However, a three-pointer and two free-throws by Quest player and PacWest Rookie of the Year Jordin Wilkinson in the last minute secured the victory for Quest! Quest player of the game Miriam Baumann celebrated this bronze medal win as her last game for the Kermodes.

After a tough loss on Friday and narrowly missing out on making it to CCAA Basketball Nationals, our men’s team had a tough game ahead of them on Saturday against #4 seeded Capilano, especially since the game was at Capilano College. Despite this fact, the men came from behind in the fourth quarter and a three-pointer in the last thirty seconds tied up the game and pushed it into overtime. Capilano got several quick points in overtime, but the Kermodes overcame trailing 83-90 with two minutes left in overtime to win 93-90.

With three Quest players named as First-Team PacWest All-Stars and two players on the PacWest Rookie Team, as well as the wins this weekend, our athletics program continues to showcase the amazing talent here at Quest. Congratulations to all our Kermodes on their wins this weekend!
