The Quest Body Love Club hosted their first body love week. The week included “Take What You Need” and Anti-Body Shame posters all over campus, a screening of the movie “Miss Representation” followed by a discussion, and at the end of the week a Body Love Gala.
The Body Love Gala was hosted on the Third Floor of the Library Building, it was themed embracing and empowering our bodies and beings. It started with amazing cheese, fruits, crackers and warm tea. A time in which students had the chance to interact between themselves and the art display. The display had art submissions from students on the theme of the night. Art included photography, acrylic paintings, sculptures and drawings.
After that, the performances started with Talia performing a poem about women’s breasts. Followed by critical jokes on body and body love by Jack, an original song by Morgan, a poem and an “I love my body” chant with the audience participation lead by Leif.
Among several incredible performances was Quest’s Improv Group. They asked the audience for locations and objects and put together hilarious and insightful short plays. Another intriguing performance was Ali’s slam poem and John’s short story.
The night was finalized with the Body Love Club on stage. Their performance was powerful and thrilling.
