On the Road – At Last!

On the road to Victoria!

For those of you who are from British Columbia, you might have been aware of the labour dispute between BC teachers and the provincial government during the past few months. The dispute meant that school ended early for students this June, and did not start until mid-September. Since school didn’t start until early last week, I had to cancel my first week of travel to the northern part of Vancouver Island. This meant I spent an extra week in the office, so I’m extra excited to be leaving on my first recruitment trip today! I’m writing this as I am sitting on a ferry to Nanaimo, and I’m on my way to Victoria. I’ll be visiting schools in Victoria, Sooke, Mill Bay, Shawnigan Lake, Duncan, and North Vancouver during this trip, and I’m travelling with the Canadian University Event for Victoria.

So far, meeting new people (especially prospective students) has been my favourite part of my job, so I can’t wait to do more of that while on the road. I also love travelling in B.C., and am looking forward to exploring the beautiful coastal scenery and awesome food in Victoria for the next few days.

Here’s a list of schools I’ll be visiting this week:

Monday – St. Michael’s University School

Tuesday – Lester B Pearson United World College, Glenlyon Norfolk Secondary School

Wednesday – Parkland Secondary School, Brentwood College School, Shawnigan Lake School

Thursday – Dwight School Canada, Queen Margaret’s School, Bodwell High School

Foggy day on the ferry to Nanaimo

Please come say hi if you’re in the area or go to one of these schools! You can check out our Quest On the Road Calendar for more information about these visits, and where the other Admissions Counsellors are this week. While I’m on Vancouver Island, Trevor will be in Toronto, Jenna will be in California in the Bay Area, Kate will be in the Phoenix area in Arizona, Keely will be in Hawaii, and Chelsey will be in Madison, Wisconsin.

In the meantime, good luck with your Fall semester! I’m looking forward to receiving more of your applications for the Early Action Deadline (December 1st).
