2014 Quest Admit Event

From April 4th to 6th, we welcomed sixty admitted students to campus to join in our annual Admit Event! We had students visiting from around the world attend the event and experience ‘Quest life’ for a weekend.

On Friday, students had the option to sit in on a live Quest class for an hour before attending a Q&A session with David. Afterwards, the admitted students got to meet their student hosts and enjoy dinner and free time before a wonderful Open Mic event. Open Mic lasted over 4 hours and had a wide range of incredibly talented acts that thoroughly impressed the admitted students. Some of the admitted students even joined in and performed themselves!

On Saturday, the day began with a Welcome from David, followed by some of Toran’s famous team building activities. The admitted students then had lunch with their student mentors (the Admissions Ambassadors) to personally connect and ask any questions they may have had about life and academics at Quest. After lunch, there were a variety of activities for the admitted students to partake in – sample classes, sample labs, a tour of Squamish, hiking the Chief, raw food with Melanie, bouldering, slacklining, arts and crafts and theatre improv.

Saturday evening, the admitted students and their hosts enjoyed a delicious Indian dinner before heading down to Cabaret. Although not seemingly possible, the students were even more impressed by the art, music and performances of Cabaret than they were for Open Mic. A huge thanks to all of the organizers, performers, and artists who made Cabaret possible. I was sitting in front of some admitted students for the performance, and some of my favourite lines of theirs were “I need to learn more words for ‘good’ to go to Quest because everything is so amazing!” and “how is everyone that goes to this school so talented and beautiful?” Suffice to say, I think they enjoyed themselves!

This weekend is an important event to show our admitted students how incredible and unique Quest is. The entire Admissions team would like to thank everyone on campus for their hard work into making this weekend a success. The entire Quest community was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and this left a great impression on the students. As one student stated in their feedback regarding the event: “I had already decided to attend before the admit event, but this was the cherry on top of the metaphorical sundae!” We look forward to inviting the attendees to campus in September!
