Practice Experiential Learning -Question Block

I am currently in my Question block. It is hard. I have to evaluate my life choices and what I want to do in the future.

Somehow my Question has remained the same from the first day of the block (“What conditions optimize a sense of belonging?”)

We have done lots of activities in class to reflect on our potential Questions and what we want to do with our next two years (the benefit of having a self-guided education is that it is almost limitless and the disadvantage is that it is almost limitless).

With so many options to choose from, our tutor decided to give us some practice in the practical element of the Question plan -which is “experiential learning.”

We headed down to the ReUse It Center in Squamish and helped out for a couple hours.

We all had various tasks to do including painting signs, moving a shelf, and sorting wires:

We had some fun too..

I had the opportunity to spray paint some doorknobs (not something I’d expect to do at Quest -let alone during a Question block).

It was quite fun and a good opportunity to see what experiential learning is like.

All in all it was a great day in the sun (and cold).

Later that day we discussed the trip in relation to an article we read about industry and the environment (Called “A World of Abundance”).

We got a break from the classroom, but still learnt a lot about Squamish and the economics of having a ReUse It Center.

Plus I had the opportunity to practice my French with a volunteer there (you never know what to expect on experiential learning.. or Quest).
