Home and back

I’m from Seattle, WA and since starting at Quest I’ve made dozens of trips to and from Seattle and Squamish. My friends and I have pretty much gotten the trip down to a science. As of last Spring, the quickest we’d made it (while still driving the speed limit) was 3 hours and 20 minutes. Of course we’ve also experienced some considerably longer commute times. After coming back from Thanksgiving one year, we waited at the south side of the border for over two hours, making the total driving time nearly six hours.

Thankfully those waits don’t occur too frequently, but even more thankfully I will never have to experience them again! This past summer I applied for the Nexus pass and have been using it ever since. In case you’re unfamiliar with the Nexus pass, it’s a pass that essentially allows you to bypass the long car lines at the border and go into a lane specifically dedicated for individuals who have the pass. Since I’ve had the Nexus pass, we’ve shaved off about 15 minutes of our ride time! Last time I drove down to Seattle from Squamish, we made it in 3 hours and 7 minutes! If you’re interested in the pass, I would highly recommend looking into it! However, only individuals who frequently make commutes across the border are eligible to get the pass (Quest students from acorss the border definitely qualify!): http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/trusted_traveler/nexus_prog/nexus.xml
