I don’t “go down” to Squamish as often as I’d like to, mostly because there are always so many things going on at campus that it’s hard (and unnecessary) to get away.
But this means sometimes I forget that the town I live in is so beautiful.
In fact I (and many others) often refer to the town/downtown as “Squamish” as if there was a distinction between Squamish and our university. This distinction is also what makes me so excited about taking part in the Go Girls program (volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters in town).
I’ve compiled some photographs I’ve taken over the year of the beautiful town I live in during a few trips I’ve taken there.
^ Farmers Market happens at the beginning of the school year (and Winter Markets happen afterwards).
^ A public bus is available to take you up and down the hill.
^ View of the mountains taken from in between the parking lot at the soccer field and Riverside residence
^ Logging road trail leading down to town that is slightly past Riverside.
^ Walking back at night = spooky
^ The Sunflower Bakery where one of my condo-mates works.
A task I’ve decided to take on this semester is to make my way “down to Squamish” more frequently. I look forward to taking full advantage of the beautiful place I live.
