Allow me to give a shout-out to the Quest Women’s soccer team for their PURE AWESOMENESS!! After a hard fought season, the Quest Women’s team qualified for the 2012 Provincial Championships, a tournament that brings together the top PACWEST teams in the province to determine the best of the best.
Quest hosted this year’s Championship Tournament at the end of October, giving the ladies the home field advantage, not to mention the “home-fan” advantage, typically involving some sort of obscure djembe ensemble complete with saxophone accompanists. Despite the rain, throngs of students, parents, and locals from the Squamish community came out to cheer on the Kermodes.
The Quest Women’s team won third place in the tournament after beating the Langara Falcons 1-0. Quest captain Jessica Freeman was named top midfielder of the tournament, while Mari Tarleton and Brianna Powrie received first team all-star awards and Jamey Horth was named second team all-star.
With such a talented young squad winning the first medal in Quest Athletics history, the team is raising eyebrows in anticipation of next year’s season. Gold, anyone?
